A hard-fought victory

The handball game on November 30th between FC St. Pauli 2 and SG Hamburg Nord 3 ended in a hard-fought victory (31-30) for St. Pauli. The match, seemingly straightforward on paper, confirmed the difficulty of this league: every opponent must be taken seriously.

FC St. Pauli maintained the initiative throughout the match, but the score remained undecided until the final whistle.

Organizational errors tested the patience of the coaches and players, but the team remained composed, and the favorable outcome was secured in the second half when individual players stepped up to take control of the game during crucial moments.

A thought for my Toulouse coach who was demanding more defensive contact and commitment during training the Thursday before the match: he'd be proud to know I received a sanction for "excessive commitment," in accordance with the traditions of Toulouse rugb... sorry, handball.

Two matches remain to try and finish the year in first place and approach the second half of the championship with confidence.
